Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 livestream

I managed to watch the runway show last night and it was amazing! I tuned in ten minutes before the show and did some people watching as the camera scanned the room. It gave the viewers at home a sense of what it is like at fashion shows, something that I did not expect. I was also on Twitter checking out Robert Duffy's tweets about the show. He was tweeting status updates as they got ready for the show and when the show began, it all stopped. I was expecting some live tweets, but I guess no one took over for Duffy. Overall I think Duffy did a good job, other than this minor slip up.

Everything about the show was beautiful. The greys, creams, and sparkly gowns accompanied by the perfect song choice, "Over the Rainbow" was just lovely. I am no fashion expert, but here are some of my favourites.

J'adore...

Now I just have one wish. Karl Lagerfeld, can you livestream your next runway show? Please and thank you!

R.I.P Alexander McQueen

I will always remember the Kate Moss hologram at his Fall/Winter 2006 runway show. It gave me goosebumps, truly a moment in fashion.

This hologram was meant to remind everyone that Kate Moss is still a fashion icon, despite her drug use. While most designers dropped her, McQueen stood by her and showed support.

He will always be remembered as an influential designer who successfully meshed fashion, art and technology together to create new visions.

You will be missed.

Virtual front-row seats at New York fashion week

New York fashion week officially begins tomorrow morning and if you have access to the internet you can live stream Fall 2010 shows from a few designers. Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Rodarte and Ports 1961 have confirmed that they will be live streaming their runway shows on select websites.

According to FocusOnStyle.com, you can be a part of fashion week on various websites.

I wonder how Anna Wintour feels? She is already sharing front row seats with fashion bloggers and now the general public gets to be a part of fashion week.
Thoughts?

Mancakes for the BF

Ladies, here's an idea for Valentine's day. Have fun this year and get your guy some Mancakes! They are literally cupcakes beefed up with manly flavours such as, beer, bacon, or booze. You can choose from four different flavours at For the Love of Cake, your guy can enjoy Stout Spice (flavoured with Guinness), Maple Bacon, Guinness Chocolate and Black Forest (spiked with Kirsch).

I don't know about the bacon, but I definitely want to try these Mancakes.

Picture: Maple Bacon and Guinness Chocolate.

Booze flavoured cupcakes remind me of this Super Bowl ad. Beer Doritos. Enjoy!

Mildred's Kitchen Temple promotes sex in its bathrooms.

I am sure the title has caught your attention, as it did for me when I came across the article this morning in the Toronto Star. Apparently, Mildred's Kitchen Temple has always been suggestive and welcomes little trysts in their bathrooms. Click here for the full story.

From a PR and social media standpoint, this story has generated some publicity for the Liberty Village restaurant. According to one reader, he commented that Google searches for “Mildred’s restaurant Toronto" hit 95,400 since the story was posted. So far, the story has been shared on Facebook 390 times and people have been tweeting about it since yesterday. Prior to the release of this story, foodies have been tweeting about their winterlicious dining experience at Mildred's. It's not bad for a small restaurant in Toronto.

There has been some negative comments going around, but to be honest, I have been to Mildred's and never knew of the sex in bathrooms. I don't think that this actually happens in their bathrooms (well, I hope not!), but they are definitely suggesting that there could be room for a bit of romance.

The purpose of the story is to promote the restaurant's "Mildred's Weekend of Big Love" for Valentine's Day, but conveniently Winterlicious is going on at the moment. They definitely chose a good time to run this story because they may even get a few last minute Winterlicious reservations booked before February 11th.

As for the negative comments, I say brush it off. At the end of the day the restaurant got tonnes of publicity and hits. Good work Flex PR.
